Held in Glasgow’s Favela, this was to be the first of four nights that set a high standard for those that followed. Favela itself is a hidden gem, a great little atmospheric venue set within the heart of the Merchant City. Samantha Seth took to the stage with her army of loyal followers in tow. We were treated to the first of four acts making it through to the Scottish Final. A set packed with beautiful melodies, a powerful singing voice and competent guitar accompaniments, Samantha shined and looked right at home on stage, playing to an already busy venue. All judges agreed that this young lady has a very bright career ahead…did I mention she’s only 16!

This was a self assured performance that belies her tender years, she is an experienced pro. Her set consists of self penned and covers. And yes the covers appeal to the lowest common denominator, so does she need them? is her own efforts weak...... NO. Sam writes a decent song, and to put it simply I hope she dumps the covers and relies on her own substantial skill as a song writer.
